The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court granted an application by the federal government to protect witnesses in the prosecution of bandits’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu.
The judge adjourned the matter until October 31 for the CBN and Mr Emefiele to show cause why an arrest warrant should not be issued against him.
“In this case, I find the existence of mental stress or pressure on the eighth defendant owing to undue hostility, intimidating conduct and threats of the EFCC officials.”
The defendant alleged that an EFCC prosecutor asked him on December 31, 2019, to claim that he gave Mr Adoke $20 million and former President Goodluck Jonathan $50 million.
Justice Stephen Pam of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt had, in a judgment in 2021, dismissed the EFCC’s charge against Mr Okorocha.
In the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/275/2023, Mrs Oduah is the sole defendant.
Justice Donatus Okorowo gave the order after Michael Aondoaka, SAN, counsel to Ms Dahiru, moved the ex-parte motion to the effect.
Governor Peter Mbah has prayed the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court to jail NYSC director-general Yusha’u Ahmed for disobeying a court order.
Mr Mamu, a former bandits’ negotiator, was, on March 21, arraigned by the office of the attorney-general of the federation on 10 counts bordering on terrorism financing.
Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the date on Wednesday after Ms Alison-Madueke’s lawyer, Benson Igbanoi, and EFCC’s counsel, M.D. Baraya, regularised their processes in the suit.
