The president of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria to upgrade the National Judicial Institute to a university.
Ms Dongban-Mensem said the court constituted 16 panels comprising 40 justices drawn from various divisions of the court of appeal.
The minister expressed confidence in the new board.
Ms Dongban-Mensem made the call at the 2024 annual Court of Appeal justices’ conference to usher in the new legal year.
She said the campaign for Road Safety has been going on for 13 years in memory of her son, who a hit-and-run driver killed.
Ms Dongban-Mensem said this when members of the association led by its president, Chimezie Ihekweazu, visited her on Thursday in Abuja.
The tribunal secretary, Ibrahim Usman, stated in Ibadan on Monday that the panel would sit at Roseline Omotosho Court House, Ikeja.
The source said that members of staff of the tribunal had been attacked on several occasions in Lokoja.
“We will look closely at this matter to see how it can be best mitigated,’’ the minister said.
The party said it gathered that the governor graced the late Paeke Shepnaan’s remembrance while it is currently challenging his victory at the tribunal.
