Justice Obiora Egwuatu is attending a judges’ seminar in Lagos, and has fixed February 15, 2022 for Mr Metuh’s retrial.
Mr Maina’s son, Faisal, was on Thursday committed to 24 years imprisonment on three-count charge bordering on money laundering.
Justice Okon Abang, in his judgment, held that Mr Maina, who was sentenced in absentia, was guilty of the three-count charge against him.
Mr Ndume stood as Mr Maina’s surety and used his Abuja property title document worth N500 million as a bail bond.
Maina stayed in his car and refused to enter the courtroom despite the judge’s request that he should appear before him.
Court has fixed July 19 to rule on a no-case submission filed by ex-Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, his son, and three others.
Mr. Abang, on Wednesday, dismissed the application filed by Mr Adibe on behalf of Faisal, Mr Maina’s son.
Before then, we have a very simple application to make. It is to seek from this honourable court to withdraw from this matter.
“A defendant who fled the country while his travel documents were deposited in court cannot be trusted with another bail.”
“He has disappointed the court,” the judge ruled.
