“AEPB has been given marching order by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to clear all shanties, illegal markets and squatter camps in the FCT,” he said.
According to Mr Olumuji, the FCTA, through the clean-up operation, is busting all hideouts to rid the capital territory of criminals.
The FCTA recently warned that indiscriminate activities of PoS operators, especially on the streets and in non-commercial areas would no longer be condoned.
The FCTA accused the food vendors, illegal petroleum sellers, and illegal mechanics occupying the road corridors as constituting nuisance.
The minister’s aide explained that the five persons arrested would be taken for investigation.
An official noted that the nuisance created by the traders in the market was “a disaster waiting to happen.”
