Mr Ahmed-Muhammed said 27 persons died, while property worth N197.6 million were destroyed by fire during the period.
One of the victims got trapped in the pit, and in an attempt to rescue him, his colleague went into the pit and was also trapped.
The pupil was brought out of the well unconscious and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“We found that the fire was in a generator room where two diesel tanks and four sets of generators had been completely razed,” the Kano firefighters said.
Mr Abdullahi said that 12 people, however, lost their lives and property worth N10.3 million were destroyed by fire during the period under review.
The destroyed shops were part of temporary shops used as rubber recycling areas at Bompai in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
However, 24 people died and property worth N13 million were estimated to have been destroyed by fire during the period.
