Amid rising security threats in the Federal Capital Territory, the police have intensified stop-and-search operations.
“We want the government to help train our youths so they can properly assist the security agencies in tackling kidnapping in our emirate.”
The police chief added that 1,359 rounds of live ammunition and 17 bandits’ operational motorcycles were also recovered in 2022.
The Centre said that it has recovered more than 3,000 illegal arms in the last 18 months since its take-off in May 2021.
The Akunnu-Ajowa road is notorious for criminal activities by armed bandits and kidnapping.
The accused are Abolaji Abdulazeez, aka BJ and Adewale Abolarinwa, aka Oro, and others still at large.
The arrest of the syndicates follows repeated reports of incessant burglary incidents in the state capital of Akure.
Mr Baba-Alkali said this on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting with strategic police managers.
The APC chieftain said “the governors have no excuse for contributing to the material conditions which deepened poverty and insecurity in Nigeria.”
The governors alleged that the nonchalance of the regime further plunged Nigerians into poverty.
