The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) says the Blue Line rail resumed operations Sunday morning after Saturday’s fire incident
Mrs Akinajo claimed that the blue line powered by electricity was the first of its kind in West Africa
“In Accord, we reject the removal of this meagre 25 per cent palliative discount on transportation.’’
Head, Corporate Communications, LAMATA, Kolawole Ojelabi, said the governor responded to calls for the reinstatement of the 50% rebate.
The LRMT Blue Line was one of the six rail lines and monorail prescribed for Lagos in the state’s Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).
Under the pilot phase, 10 high occupancy vehicles would be deployed for the service.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said the increase was to sustain the operations of regulated bus services in Lagos state.
The free bus commuter services would be offered to Lagosians on the Ikorodu to TBS, Oshodi to Abule Egba and Lagos Badagry Expressway BRT corridors.
“The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority reasoned that there was the need for a higher measure of security…, especially in the light of last year’s attack.”
