Senator Osita Izunaso warned that the security crisis in Benue had become a national emergency requiring urgent government intervention.
He called for people living in flood-prone areas, especially at river banks to relocate.
The NEMA boss said the flood may impact 31 states in Nigeria, with 148 LGAs being predicted to be within the high-risk areas.
Mr Alia gave the directive when he met with the Miners Association of Nigeria, Benue Chapter members in Makurdi.
It also called for a review of the security architecture in the affected areas.
According to Mr Kunde, the herders-farmers violence has so far destroyed property and farmlands worth over N425 billion in eight local governments.
Mr Alia said he would not surrender the Benue to criminal gangs.
“What we inherited was nothing to be proud of, but we will do what will make us all proud. I inherited over N359 billion in debt,” he said.
The Two council wards, Ikaaghev and Mbabuande, were overrun by herders after the attack.
The communities have resisted the policy, arguing that it was a backroom effort by the Buhari administration to expropriate their ancestral lands to violent marauders.
