The West African Health Organisation has expanded its Lassa Fever Coalition to accelerate vaccine access in the region.
Ms Coker stated, “Any case of febrile illness that has not responded to 48 hours use of anti-malaria or antibiotics should be raised as an index of suspicion for Lassa fever.’’

Mr Ojeifo noted that since the outbreak of Lassa fever was declared on December 30, 2024, the state had recorded 83 confirmed cases out of 378 suspected cases.
The centre, however, reported that the death toll from Lassa fever continued to climb, reaching 53 fatalities nationwide.
NCDC said that despite the decline in weekly cases, the cumulative number of confirmed cases for 2025 has risen to 214.
He said the outbreak posed significant public health risks.
