A truck has crushed a couple’s car, killing one at Eleko junction along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway in Lagos.
Mr Giwa also urged motorists to be prudent and safety conscious while on the road.
Mr Giwa noted that the tanker was evacuated from the carriageway.
Mr Bakare-Oki described the accident as deeply painful.
Ms Ogunlola said all junctions from Maracana Stadium to Signal Barracks would be closed.
He also said LASTMA personnel evacuated the accident vehicles from the main carriageway to avoid another accident.
Mr Bakare-Oki denounced the reckless and life-threatening act of driving against traffic.
The LASTMA spokesperson said two people were also seriously injured in the accident, caused by a mechanical brake failure involving one of the vehicles.
“The fatal incident occurred along Simpson Street, inward Ikoyi, on Osborne Expressway by the Traffic Light Junction,” Mr Adebayo said.
Olalekan Bakare-Oki, LASTMA general manager, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
