Mahdi Aliyu’s impeachment as deputy governor followed after he failed to defect to the APC with Governor Bello Matawalle.
The governor said that a deputy governor must be vibrant, honest and loyal to the goals of any administration.
“You know by the provision of the constitution, once the impeachment process starts, no court should interfere in the matter.”
A statement from the House said action taken by the house was in line with the provision of Section 188 (5) of the constitution, as amended.
The deputy governor, who has become leader of opposition party PDP in the state, is being accused of abuse of office and financial misappropriation.
