A bag of maize sells for about N19,000 in most markets now, against the old price of N24,000.
The bags of grains for the distribution included maize, millet, sorghum and garri.
The 2022 flooding is Nigeria’s worst in the last five years, with 32 out of the 36 states of the country affected.
The new figure is an increase from the 20.77 per cent figure recorded in September.
The food items included maize, millet, Guinea corn and maize grits.
Some farmers in the South-East have decried the high cost of fertilisers, noting that they have resorted to other sources of manure for their crops.
The police also accused the defendant of forging a company’s waybill and converted the proceeds to his personal use.
“If we don’t manage the situation effectively, there will be (a) significant volume of pressure on input material and the volume of food sold,” he said.
The farmers said thousands of hectares of farmlands wilted due to the prolonged dry spell in Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Jigawa States.
