The report from Defence Headquarters clashed with a previous claim of an army general, who blamed the strikes that killed over 126 villagers on a precision error by combat drones.
He thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for approving logistics for the smooth conduct of the event.
He warned that any soldier found wanting would not be spared.
According to him, he will improve existing strategies and develop new ones to secure the nation’s maritime waters.
The suspects were arrested alongside unspecified crude oil stored in paraffin bags, motorcycles, wheelbarrows and jerrycans.
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, had said the Nigerian Army was living up to its constitutional role.
“Our response to your kind gesture is our unalloyed loyalty and subordination to democratic governance.”
Mr Lagbaja said the army had recorded considerable achievements in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other criminality.
The competition will feature drill, obstacle crossing, map reading, skill at arms, combat run and combat swimming and physical fitness.
The troops also captured six AK 47 magazines, 24 rounds of 7.62mm, three motorcycles, one matchet, two handsets and some charms.
