A new Code of Conduct by the FCT security committee has prohibited vigilante groups in the nation’s capital from using firearms for their operations.
The illegal structures erected in swampy areas were inhabited by over 1,000 petty traders, comprising young men, women, middle aged and the old.
Mr Mohammed added that efforts being made by the FCTA to curb insecurity in Abuja were numerous.
The workers vowed never to return to work until the new salary structure was implemented.
“The FCTA has decided that this illegality cannot stand.”
