The commissioner said this in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, on Tuesday.
The state CP directed the SCID to investigate the case meticulously and ensure that it was charged to court on time.
The CP commended the operatives for their prompt and professional response.
“They were transporting them to the New Artisan Market, Enugu, for sale. They will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations,” the police said.
The Catholic priest was shot dead at night on September 19, on the Eha-Ndiagu Eha-Etiti Road in Eha-Alumona, Nsukka LGA of the state.
The spokesman urged citizens of the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of the police.
Mr Ndukwe described the incidents as unfortunate and consoled with individuals and families who lost their loved ones in the accidents.
The police spokesperson noted that the suspects would be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.
The CP reiterated the command’s commitment to combating all forms of crime in the state.
Mr Ndukwe said that the suspect was apprehended while loitering suspiciously on a street within the Thinkers Corner area of Enugu.
