The union directed the teachers to comply with the directive and await further instructions.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers in Abuja has directed all primary and secondary school teachers to join the strike initiated by the Joint Union Action Committee.
“The council appeals to all primary school teachers in FCT to, with effect from Wednesday, July 9, return to the classrooms,” said NUT.

Mr Sule said that discussion with the chairmen of the area councils was ongoing to resolve the issues.
Ms Jethro said the strike, suspended with effect from Monday, followed the intervention of Mr Wike to settle part of the minimum wage arrears.
The union advised parents to keep their children and wards in primary schools safe at home.
“When I heard that the primary section did not resume on Monday, I had to call the chairman of the ALGON and the NUT chairman.”
