Vice-President Kashim Shettima says Nigerian universities must become centres of innovation, enterprise and industrialisation to accelerate economic growth.
The university’s vice-chancellor, Ursula Akanwa, disclosed this while briefing journalists about her achievements during the first 100 days in office.
Mr Kanu also said that the initiative aligned with the state’s innovation, science and technology framework aimed at strengthening research and development.

The lecturer argued that current agricultural development policies primarily focused on a large number of rural dwellers, who were mainly farmers.
The commissioner said the vaccination campaign was Abia’s rapid response to prevent the spread of the dangerous disease within the state’s borders.
Mr Ede pointed out that the timely distribution of farm inputs would alleviate the nation’s food crisis caused by underproduction.
“The Federal College of Agriculture already has all of the facilities necessary for the establishment of the university,” the lawmaker stressed.
The union said it would reconvene at the expiration of the 21-day notice to take appropriate decision(s) as deemed necessary.
