Türkiye’s Migration Management Presidency has sought to collaborate with NiDCOM to facilitate the voluntary return and reintegration of undocumented Nigerians.
He said the return marked the first organised repatriation of Nigerian migrants from Sudan in 2026.
Mr Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, underscored the importance of the revised policy.
The commissioner said that out of the 138,154 refugees and asylum seekers in Nigeria, 32,746 were awaiting registration.
Mr Ahmed revealed that at least six million people are displaced in Nigeria, while thousands of refugees are living elsewhere across the world.
Mr Adebayo explained that the project was designed to enhance the agricultural value chain among refugees, migrants, and IDPs to provide sustainable income and food security.
The theme underscores the invaluable contributions of migrants to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and their destination countries.
Mr Ahmed explained that the crisis in Sudan made the voluntary return of the 29 Nigerian emigrants necessary.
20,000 Nigerians, representing about 3,000 households, took refuge in Chad, while 14,000 households were in Cameroon.
The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons says there are 52,000 refugees in Cross River.
