The programme focuses on skills development, enterprise integration, cooperative strengthening, access to finance and technology transfer.
Mr Maiha said that with an estimated population of more than 50 million, Nigeria has one of the largest herds of cattle in Africa.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, says Nigeria is prioritising food security and global competitiveness, as well as transforming the country’s livestock industry.
The federal government states that it is collaborating with relevant stakeholders to expedite the relocation of cattle grazing in the Abuja city centre to designated grazing reserves.
The government estimated that the livestock sector has the potential to grow into a ₦74 billion economy by 2035.
The minister stated that the centre would collaborate with Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, for research purposes.
Mr Maiha said the government had already planned to operate an integrated piggery farming and processing initiative in the state.
The acting controller-general of NCoS, Sylvester Nwakuche, said this when he visited the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha.
Mr Maiha said large-scale mechanised production was the only option for higher commercial yield.
