Mr Alake said the emerging plants were also positioning Nigeria as a critical global partner in minerals essential for the green energy transition.
Mr Alake said that Africa must move from a raw minerals supplier to a global hub for mineral processing, innovation and green industrialisation.
Mr Alake bemoaned the tragedy, describing the loss of lives as both avoidable and unfortunate.
Ms Adeyemi described every dormant or defaulting licence as a missed opportunity for the nation.
He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to eradicating illegal mining activities.
Mr Alake said, “Nigeria is ready for responsible and profitable mining investment.’’
The minister recently inaugurated a two-week pilot training programme for Nigerian mining professionals at Murdoch University, Australia.
He added that the 2025 summit would foster partnerships and attract investments to Nigeria.
An explosion was reported at a mining site in Sabon Pegi, located in Mashegun LGA of Niger, on Sunday.
