The United States demonstrated a strong commitment to support Nigeria’s efforts at strengthening police reform and accountability.
It is unclear when or if Mr Biden will visit Africa before the polls, where he will again face his predecessor, Donald Trump.
The envoy is expected to consult with Mr Tinubu and other West African leaders on how the United States “can best support regional efforts to return Niger to a democratic path.”
‘’War is not ideal for my economic reforms, nor the region, but the defence of democracy is sacrosanct,” said Mr Tinubu
The U.S. said that it was only interested in a process that would lead to a credible poll, and asked Nigerians to “have confidence in their electoral process.”
