Mr Obasa had alleged that he was unlawfully removed from his position on January 13 by 36 lawmakers while he was abroad.
Mr Obasa said, “I’ve never been removed. Impeachment or removal is democratic and constitutional.’’
It was unclear how the politician arrived at the claim. No fresh leadership election was held to reinstate Mr Obasa as Speaker.
Mrs Akinade stated, “The impeached speaker (Obasa) should allow Madam Speaker (Meranda) to continue from where he has stopped.’’
The complex was closed for several hours before legislative staff forced open the chamber’s doors.
