NDLEA spokesman said operatives intercepted large consignments of opioids with combined monetary value of more than N22.7 billion at three seaports in Lagos.
“The suspect who came under NDLEA surveillance following intelligence had arrived in Lagos from his base in Onitsha, Anambra State, the previous day, August 7,” Mr Babafemi said.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the suspected drug traffickers had been declared wanted by the agency for over two months.
“A freight agent, Ewelike Chibuike Cyril, who presented the consignment for export, was subsequently arrested,” he said.
The NDLEA spokesperson said the suspect claimed to have left Nigeria for Mozambique in 2004 and finally relocated to Brazil in 2017.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized no less than 9.5 million tablets of Tramadol and Exol-5 worth over N5 billion in three states.
