Governor Inuwa Yahaya has urged Muslims to offer special prayers for abundant rainfall for a bumper harvest, peace and prosperity for Gombe and Nigeria.
The Borno Emirate Council has started mobilising the public for special prayers for rain, known as “Salatul Istisqa’a”.
Two men participated in a demonstration in the Swedish capital where the Quran was burnt on the first day of Muslims’ Eid al-Adha holiday.
“He told me he wanted to profoundly change the team’s make-up and limit the maximum number of Muslims.”
The Oyo assembly has called on Nigerians to pray for their fatherland.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Muslims to pray for the triumph of justice and God’s will in Nigeria’s affairs.
The president made the call in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. He said Nigerians should also thank God for witnessing another Eid.
“Borrowing to fulfil this obligation is a way of imposing an unnecessary financial burden on oneself. Sallah is not an opportunity to show off affluence or materialism.”
“Our president is a liberal Muslim and will never discriminate. This is why some of us supported him wholeheartedly.”
Mr Shettima’s statement comes as the push for who becomes senate president and speaker of the 10th National Assembly continues with elected members scrambling for the positions.
