He said that drug abuse was becoming prevalent among youths in society.
“The estimated value of products mopped up during the December 15, 2024, operation is N5 billion,” said the NAFDAC chief.
Mr Fagbemi said, “The government’s interest is to safeguard the health of the nation.”
She acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers due to bans on various chemicals.
She called on members of the public in possession of the product to discontinue sale or use and submit stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
On Wednesday, NAFDAC destroyed fake and expired goods worth over N500 million in Abuja.
The NAFDAC boss expressed the agency’s discomfort at the alarming rate at which Nigerian food exports are rejected abroad.
NAFDAC says noodles produced in the country did not contain ethylene oxide or its metabolism.
The agency said it had introduced various technological initiatives to ensure that Nigerians consume wholesome and safe products.
The statement stated that NAFDAC Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, described narcotics and psychotropic substances as indispensable for relieving pain and suffering.
