Mr Babale said that the victims were Nigerians comprising 17 males and 48 females aged between 15 and 42.
The Benin zonal command says it arrested three women for human trafficking and child abuse.
“The victims were rescued by the Nigerien police in the Niger Republic, on their way to Libya,” Mr Babale said.
The anti-human trafficking agencies inaugurated a platform to aid in information sharing among West Africa countries.
Since 2014, Nigeria has handed over eleven Ivorians to the country’s governement, while Cote d’Ivoire has handed over 88 victims to Nigeria.
The victims aged between 16 and 33 were rescued on their way to Tripoli, Libya en route the Jigawa-Katsina border.
The resumption of the new DG of NAPTIP followed the swapping order of two heads of agencies.
“The suspect would be used to trace others at large who had earlier indicated interest to buy the baby.”
The victims were on transit from Delta, Imo, Edo, Ogun, Oyo and Ondo States en route to Europe via Libya.
The agency received 48 cases and arrested 53 suspects in connection with human trafficking and sexual abuse during the period under review.
