“Out of the 51 victims, two are from Niger Republic, while others were from Kano, Katsina, Yobe and Jigawa states,” he said.
The NAPTIP zonl commander said the victims were trafficked to Germany, Russia and Mali, respectively, where they were exploited by their traffickers for years.
NAPTIP alleged that Mrs Nwatu stripped the girl naked, tied her hands and legs, and flogged her with an electric wire.
“They will then cross the Nigerian border to Niger Republic for their onward destination to Libya.”
NAPTIP has reiterated its resolve to eliminate human trafficking and SGBV in Bayelsa.
Mr Tali claimed he was a father of six children and had decided to sell one of his children to help raise money to take care of his large family.
The agency also carried out sensitisation programmes in conjunction with the government for religious and traditional leaders.

The commissioner, who said that the children would be taken for a proper medical examination, commended NAPTIP for the feat.
Mrs Waziri said that the number of convictions in 2022 was the highest since the agency’s inception.
