The Federal High Court, Kaduna Division, continued with the hearing of Mr El-Rufai’s bail application on Wednesday.
The former governor had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr El-Rufai’s mother died on Friday in Egypt.
Mrs Umma died on Friday in Cairo, Egypt, after a brief illness.
When the case was called on Wednesday, all the parties, except the 2nd respondent (magistrate), were represented in court.
The ICPC charged Mr El-Rufai with unlawful financial benefits and suspicious inflows into his bank accounts during his tenure as governor.
Mr Odey further noted that both suits were filed by the ICPC on March 18, 2026, and that Mr El-Rufai had been duly served with the suits.
The ICPC said it still had Mr El-Rufai in its custody pursuant to a March 5, 2026, court order.
Mr El-Rufai is currently before the same court, challenging the search of his house and seeking, among others, a N1 billion compensation.
Mr Abubakar urged opposition members to make efforts to succeed in the 2027 elections to ensure the restoration of true democracy in the country.
