The federal government commenced distributing free fertiliser to 20,160 smallholder farmers in the South-South.
“If farmers make proper use of the fertilisers, the cost of food commodities should become more affordable by harvest time,” he said.
Mr ‎Wokoma said the initiative was designed to address financing challenges limiting access to mechanised farming equipment.
Mr Ibrahim listed the inputs as 1,560 onion seedlings, 2,080 NPK fertiliser, and 1,040 chemicals.
Mr Ibrahim stated that NADF would contribute N798 million to the project.
The fund noted that the initiative was to enhance productivity and guarantee food and nutrition security.
