The NDLEA boss emphasised that prevention remained the best defence.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday following a raid on his warehouse in Akala, Mushin area of Lagos.
Mr Babafemi said their arrests followed diligent investigation of an earlier arrest.
The convict was arrested on Sunday, March 31, while attempting to board a flight to Delhi, India.
“Before any state contingents leave for a tournament, there must be a drug test, and we will take this evangelism to our sporting men and women,” the NDLEA commander said.
The NDLEA spokesman said the raid followed credible intelligence about the drug party organised by one Stanley Ikechukwu, who was arrested at the venue.
The commander disclosed that NDLEA also arrested 106 male suspects, among which 11 were identified as major drug dealers.
Mr Babafemi said that another 48-year-old suspect was also apprehended at Essit Ebum area of Calabar.
Police spokesperson said the dry leaves were concealed beneath fertilizers loaded in a Dangote truck, heading to Abuja from Ondo State.
Delivering judgment, Justice Uche Agomoh, held that she convicted and sentenced Mr Abubakar based on the evidence before her.
