Mr Oborevwori said they must implement the new minimum wage for their workers effective November 2024.
“Also, we hope there will be financial integrity at the local government levels, and all financial transactions will be tracked,” said the NULGE boss.
He added that the decision was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people.
“We can categorically say, without any iota of fear of contradiction, that Edo government is owing councils.”
One of the council staff revealed that he and other workers had received their January salary while awaiting February’s.
The members January salary has not been paid because the FCT Administration refuses to release their allocations.
Mr Jonathan urged governors across Nigeria to refrain from directly getting involved in the day-to-day running of local government affairs.
“Sponsoring this kind of bill is anti-masses. It is anti-progress.”
