The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Kaduna has reelected Aliyu Tanimu-Zaria as chairman for a second term of four years.
NURTW has reelected Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya as chairman for a second term in Lagos.
The NURTW has been enmeshed in a leadership tussle caused by an attempt to take over power by various factions of the union.
He said this followed consultations between the federal government and the leadership of the labour unions at the Presidential Villa.

This escalation of force by the police further exacerbated the volatile atmosphere.
The area commander stressed the need to discourage such practice at the Toll-Gate area to reduce mishaps during and after the ember months.
“This is until steps are taken by the government to address the excruciating mass suffering and impoverishment being experienced around the country.”
He also said there was a need to avert further escalation, which has become exigent.
