The NLO stated, “Such conduct is capable of bringing the game of football into disrepute and disrupting the smooth administration of the league.”
The competition was organised with the support of the NLO as part of preparations for the 2026 football season.
The NNL boss appealed to the NASS and President Bola Tinubu-led government to consider the request due to football’s role in uniting the country.
“The Super Eagles need to increase the tempo and even do more. We know the national team can do better,” said a football administrator.
