The fire services in Zamfara and Sokoto have embarked on awareness campaigns to prevent fire incidents during the harmattan.
Governor Charles Soludo’s government has appealed for fresh intervention from NEMA to tackle flooding in Anambra.
The items distributed were sewing machines, grinding machines, water pump machines, cooking stoves, cooking pots, mattresses, mosquito nets, mats, soap, buckets, and blankets.
He listed the items to include sewing and grinding machines, food and non-food items, mats, blankets, nets, cooking utensils, and detergents.
The exercise was aimed at reducing accidents during the Yuletide.
“The devastating floods hit seven of the 21 local government areas of the state,” said Deputy Governor Onyekachi Ibezim.
The Senate committee on special duties has advocated for more support to strengthen the capacity and operations of NEMA.
“Looking for greener pastures in foreign land is no longer a reality,” said the NEMA official.
