HYPREP says it has made significant progress in restoring fragile ecosystems through mangrove reforestation and shoreline cleanup in heavily impacted areas of Ogoniland
HYPREP project coordinator commended regulators and asset owners for their pivotal roles in improving clean-up and accelerating several projects.
He confirmed that crcCARE will collaborate with HYPREP and CEER in areas including site assessment, characterisation, remediation, and capacity building.
This was disclosed in a statement by Nenibarini Zabbey, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project project coordinator.
The project coordinator of HYPREP, Nenibarini Zabbey, reaffirmed this commitment in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the beneficiaries were selected based on merit.
HYPREP aims to restore bloody cockles by artificially propagating them in the lab and reintroducing them to the Ogoni shoreline.
According to Mr Zabbey, the HYPREP will also commence the socio-economic study of Ogoniland in 2025.
Nenibarini Zabbey, project coordinator at HYPREP, communicated this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer, in partnership with local partners, will provide data on the health pattern of Ogoniland in 2025.
