NERC said the federal government spent N135.2 billion to plug the revenue generation shortfall in the power sector in Q2 2023.
“Customers must upgrade their prepaid meters by sequentially entering the two KCT tokens (KCT1 & KCT2).
“We should not base our tariff against factors we do not have any control over,” he said.
On Sunday, the customers, in separate interviews, said that DisCos had increased tariff payable for power across the country without notification.
The tariff rate for Non-MD customers under R2SB class increased from N58.47 to N66.47 per kilowatt.
The electricity regulator maintained that installation of electrical assets was the responsibility of Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos).
NERC said the DisCos resolved 212,382 complaints corresponding to a 95.39 per cent resolution rate.
Mr Garba blamed the recent collapse of the national grid on inadequate gas supply.
The app would be integrated into the systems of the various DisCos which would trigger alerts immediately power outage complaints were made by customers.
