The minister said partnerships with state governments were essential to relocate old custodial centres situated too close to residents.
Mr Nwakuche applauded the NICOWA president for her commitment to the association.
The NCoS official described the incident as unfortunate, saying, “The families of the deceased have been contacted.”
She urged every personnel to contribute to the daily and overall success of the command.
He said the NCoS was committed to ensuring all correctional facilities fulfil its mandate of safe custody, rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.
The interior minister said that the present administration was committed to providing adequate resources and funding for the correctional service.
He urged the staff of the secretariat to offer full support to Mr Jibrin in his new role.
Mr Tunji-Ojo said the inmates acquired skills in carpentry, tailoring, poultry, hairdressing, and fishery, among others.
The minister said this would be achieved through a positive change in the institutional management of the NCOS for better service delivery.
The suspension took effect on September 26.
