FCT minister Nyesom Wike has blamed chairpersons of the six area councils for the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the territory.
“We urge the State Government and security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Mr Igboji said.
At the screening, which will start from June 15 and end on June 30, workers are expected to produce relevant credentials, birth certificates and letters of first appointment.
Cancelling the waiting period was necessitated by concerns for teachers’ welfare and stakeholders in the education sector.
All the public primary schools visited in the Enugu metropolis were under lock and key.
The new law extends teachers retirement age from 60 to 65, while service period has been moved from 35 to 40 years.
Federal Capital Territory primary and secondary school teachers have insisted that nothing will avert an indefinite strike if their demands are not met by November 25.
