The minority leader said the abrupt hike would burden the already strained populace, exacerbating economic hardship.
Mr Onanuga said it would be premature to comment on the matter.

KAEDC is one of the five Electricity Distribution Companies taken over by their funders.
Kaduna Electric announced that it had since started refunding customers who bought meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme.
Notwithstanding the revenue generation, the company said that customers are still owing it to the tune of hundred billions of naira.
Mr Abubakar said the federal government had begun the construction of a 132 kilovolts transmission line in the state.
“This bill would have put an end to what Nigerians are facing today in the hands of the DisCos but unfortunately it did not scale through.”
The federal government said it’s working assiduously to reform the power sector and attract more investments.
The app would be integrated into the systems of the various DisCos which would trigger alerts immediately power outage complaints were made by customers.
