Mr Ogunjimi stated that the significant tax burden imposed by the newly approved CONMESS reduces the impact of the salary increment.
The NMA noted that the longstanding concerns required urgent and comprehensive attention.
He stated that the doctors were leaving the state service at an alarming rate from February 2025 to date.
It added that the healthcare sector was on the brink due to unfulfilled promises and poor welfare for doctors.
“The health of Nigerians is not a bargaining chip,” said the NMA official. “It is a sacred responsibility that must be safeguarded by all of us.”
He described the review of doctors’ welfare packages as historic.
The Nigerian Medical Association has called for health sector policies to enhance health workers’ productivity, empathy, respect and inclusivity.
“This administration will not play with workers’ welfare. We will continue to treat them fairly,” he said.
Mr Olowojebutu,said, “The CMDs are like emperors. They are the ones that oversee the hospitals and are not answerable to anybody.’’
The association said that the Oyo State Government is ‘working the talk,’ because quackery is an evil wind that blows no one any good.
