According to the circular, the state government exempted some categories of political officeholders from the directive.

The ban is contained in a statement by the secretary to the state government, Chidiebere Onyia, on Monday in Enugu.
He said the ruling party has instead committed Nigeria “to the mercies of foreign interests and market forces.”
