The suspected vandals were arrested in different parts of the country between July and August.
The president said the rescue was difficult because bandits don’t care about killing their hostages if they come under attack.
This requirement was stated by the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, in Abuja on Thursday.
The train said to be conveying about 1000 passengers has a total seat capacity of 840. The train manifest contained 362 validated passengers aboard.
A KADSEMA official who did not want his name mentioned said they were still working on the details.
Several other passengers were said to have been kidnapped by the bandits.
“Dear passengers, due to unforeseen circumstances, Train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route have been temporarily suspended.
NRC says plans are underway to manage the heavy influx of passengers and reduce the number of persons that stand onboard trains along the Warri-Itakpe route.
The NRC said its focus was on property development rather than leasing of lands that limited its revenue potential.
The process would be on test-run for a week.
