“The accusations made by the Trade Union Congress in the United Kingdom are, thus, unfounded and based on a misunderstanding of the situation,” said the presidency.
The statement noted. “We condemn the actions of the Nigerian government and demand that they cease their persecution of Joe Ajaero.’’
The union stated this via its X handle after meeting with the delegation of federal government over minimum wage.
“This is in view of the various socio-economic policies of this administration that have impoverished the working people of this country.”
“The textiles industry has historically been a major employer of labour.’’
“Much worse, it defies logic to try to subject members of these unions to discriminatory treatment.”
Mr Ajaero accused the government of creating another avenue for economic rentiers such as the PoS operators.
“It is truly a shame that the World Bank has really shown itself to be an enemy of the Nigerian nation.”
“It is important that we learn from the mistakes of the past so that its errors are not repeated.”
