Mr Aguocha regained his freedom on Monday after kidnappers held him hostage for nine days.
“Some of the activities marking the week include a Scientific Conference, discussions on medical doctors’ welfare, courtesy visits, and Young Doctors’ Day,” he said.
“Government has given approval for more doctors to be employed, as well as other health workers,” said Mr Ajaka.
According to the NMA chairman, the decision to embark on the strike was taken at an emergency meeting of the association on Tuesday.
The association urged aggrieved patients and their relations to always channel their complaints to appropriate quarters.
The association said drug abuse and vote-buying and selling have long-term negative effects on individuals and society.
