The SSS official, identified as DDD, was led in evidence by the Federal Government’s lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN.
Mr Ozekhome has now become the latest public figure to criticise the Supreme Court’s verdict condemning Mr Jackson to the death penalty.
The judge stood down the matter to deliver a ruling on the admissibility of the evidence sought to be tendered by the federal government.
The IPOB leader alleged that the statements were made by him under duress.
The witness said, “DSS did not kidnap Kanu in Kenya. We are confined to Nigeria. We did not arrest Kanu in Kenya.’’
Mr Kanu confirmed being the founder and leader of IPOB and Eastern Security Network.
Mr Awomolo said that the statement-taking session was also recorded on video.
Although Mr Kanu’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, also apologised on her behalf, the judge insisted that Ms Kanu would be barred from three proceedings.
The witness, whose real name was not mentioned for security reasons, stated this during a cross-examination by Mr Kanu’s counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN).
Mr Kanu stated that freedom fighting is not a crime in any part of the world.
