The State Security Service will on Wednesday, arraign former Governor Nasir El-Rufai for cybercrime and breach of national security.
Mr El-Rufai was charged based on the provisions of the Cybercrime Act 2024 and the Nigerian Communications Act 2003.
He added, “I am further directed to state that the allegation has been formally referred to the Department of State Services for a comprehensive investigation.”
Mr El-Rufai had resisted an attempted arrest at the airport in Abuja on Thursday by SSS operatives.
According to him, discussions focused on shared security interests, military training, force development, among others.Â
The meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the service chiefs.
The joint statement noted that strategic discussions focused on strengthening collaboration to improve religious freedom and enhance security across the country.
The legal luminary described the development as a major relief to the parents, guardians and residents of the area and nation at large.
