“We should accord him deep respect by taking heed of all he had warned us of as Ndigbo,” the chieftain said.
Mr Ogbonnia said the President General of Ohanaeze, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, was highly elated and sent a warm gratitude to the President for the development.
The governors of Abia and Imo and other prominent Nigerians have continued to pay tribute to Ogbonnaya Onu, a former governor and minister.
“It is also our mission to revive and reform our native laws and customs.’’
“I am, therefore, with every sense of responsibility and love, appealing to the leader of this group to rescind his decision to order a sit-at-home.”
Mr Ishola reiterated the importance of Nigeria’s unity, stating it would facilitate stronger alliances with other nations worldwide.
The group described Mr Nnaji as a visionary and rare Nigerian who had deployed his intellect for the growth of Nigeria.
“They do it for some peculiar selfish narrow interests and Ohaneze Ndigbo condemns that,” Mr Ogbonnia said.
Mr Montgomery disclosed this when he paid a visit to Ohanaeze Ndigbo leaders at the organisation’s headquarters in Enugu on Tuesday.
