Mr Tinubu recently declared a nationwide security emergency.
He urged the new executives to leverage their position to strengthen Igbo families and unite the country.
“When I visited him a few weeks ago, he promised me that he would soon be alright to continue with his contributions to the progress of the nation,” stated Mr Obi.
“When peace and order is restored, we can proceed to creating economic opportunities for the youth.’’
During the last presidential and governorship polls in Lagos, Igbos were a particular target of violence and ethnic slurs.
They said the continuous incarceration of Mr Kanu, even after being freed by the courts, had worsened the security situation in the zone.
The apex Igbo group promised to announce a non-kinetic solution to insecurity in the South-East during this year’s Igbo Day Celebration on September 29 in Enugu.

The new Igbo leader said he would set up various councils to see that agriculture, industries, education and businesses received the attention they needed in Igboland.
