The officer added that joint rescue operations were carried out by FRSC, the Nigeria Police, and the Lagos State Fire Service.
“We want to warn Sowore and his group to stay away from Lagos or face the full weight of the law,” said the police commissioner.
The police commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh, gave the assurance during the ‘show of force’ by the command on Monday in Ikeja.
Mr Hamzat said that speeding remained a major cause of preventable crashes.
The magistrate adjourned the case until July 2 for hearing.
He said Commissioner of Police Olarenwaju Ishola ordered the release of the suspects after discussing with one of the protest organisers, Omoyele Sowore, in his office.
The state police spokesperson said that apart from Ojota, normalcy had returned to other parts of the state.
The protesters also said a worship service would hold on the ground on Sunday (today).
On Thursday, two opposing groups staged protests at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, in Lagos.
“Further investigations revealed that the articulated truck, while heading inward Ketu, suddenly lost control of motion,” he said.
