The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says injured passengers in a crash involving two BRT buses were rescued.
The incident happened along the railway line opposite Cappa in Lagos.
“The building collapsed at No. 49, Oyinlola Street, off Adealu Bus-stop, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos,” he said.
“Upon arrival to the scene, it was discovered that an accident involved a car with registration number MUS 450 GR and a truck, registration number ALK-215XA,” LASEMA said.
He said that Alimosho ranked first with 25 incidents.
“Further investigations revealed that the accident occurred when the vehicle’s driver swerved recklessly in an attempt to avoid a VIS checkpoint,” the LASEMA official said.
“Further investigations revealed that the articulated truck, while heading inward Ketu, suddenly lost control of motion,” he said.
He said the occupants of the duplex were evacuated safely and no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Information gathered revealed that the deceased, Tajudeen Amololo, 59, got trapped in an attempt to clear a blocked portion of the underground drainage.
The governor said that any property that did not conform to the state’s regulations of construction would be pulled down.
